Best Date Night Restaurant winner: Avontuur Estate Restaurant
So nice, Cape Town voted twice. Winner of the ‘Best Date Night’ category in 2021, Avontuur is back and more romantic than ever.
Situated against the majestic Helderberg between Stellenbosch and Somerset West, Avontuur Estate Restaurant has a sun-drenched terrace with spectacular views of the paddocks, vineyards and Table Mountain.
Since 1984, the estate has been owned by the Taberer family who upholds the farm’s commitment to the wine industry and passion for fast horses. Yes, there are plenty of studs on the property to spice up your date night.
The wine cellar at Avontuur Estate was built in 1986 and the first red wine bottled under the Estate name was the 1987 Pinotage. The first white was the 1987 blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Chenin Blanc and the first pink was the 1987 Blanc de Noir.
Avontuur grows three white grape varietals, namely Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier, as well as seven red varietals, namely Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Pinotage, Shiraz, and Petit Verdot.
Some reasons to visit the Avontuur Restaurant for date night include their divine food, their romantic fireplace and incredible service. Another hint can be found in their name – spending date night here with your loved one will be an adventure to cherish.
Travelling a distance? The Manor House has nine private suites, four lounges, a tennis court, a swimming pool, pavilion, and overlooks large rolling lawns. The Avontuur Restaurant and tasting room is a mere 200m walk away.
