On 28 June 2022, Coco Safar opened its new, world-class Piazza St John’s all-day café in Sea Point, Cape Town. Answering locals’ calls to open on ‘their side of Sea Point’, the new St John’s store sports more than 20 meters of café storefront with its European-style open sunny terrace in what is known as the centre of upper Sea Point.

The iconic Coco Safar interior design has been taken to a whole new level, with interior spaces blending with exterior and attention to detail at every corner. Showing off glittering brass butterfly cutouts on both the terrace trellises and the vintage-looking arches opening into its inspired interior, vintage black and white prints in wooden frames and supper club table lamps creates an interior brasserie-style dining experience that is both inviting and atmospheric.
Touted as a typical European-style all-day café, the new St John’s store caters to everything from your morning coffee pick-up, to decadent breakfasts, festive brunches, a quick work lunch or something more lavish, to cocktails, and dinner (their new alcohol license is set to be ready by 1 August, in time for the launch of their new dinner experience).
The inspired biophilic-designed space is a mix of St Tropez with its teal-coloured columns and hanging plants, cane lampshades and vintage black and white imagery, and Buenos Aires café culture with its wooden arches, antique mirrors and stitched linen details. Vintage, yet clearly contemporary, the space oozes accessible luxury and feels welcoming to all walks of life.
In true Coco Safar style, there are pockets of French savoir-faire everywhere, and with a dedicated pâtisserie counter on the inside of the mall, Coco Safar’s New York Pâtisserie Collection is available to enjoy along with delicate pâtisserie cakes and delightful macarons.
