Dubbed the biggest awards show of the year, Kfm 94.5 invited the people of Cape Town to vote across 30 categories for the 2022 Best of the Cape Awards. No funny business, just you choosing the Mother City’s finest. And Cape {town} Etc is adding to the gees by proudly supporting each winner.

Best Family Restaurant winner: Ashley’s Family Restaurant
Your home away from home, Ashley’s Family Restaurant in Goodwood is a cosy restaurant where the food reminds you of the way mom made it.
Their dedicated kiddies corner and kiddies menu keep the little ones happy, while the adults can try an extensive menu that includes a little something (hearty) for everyone. And according to one voter, “On Sundays, it’s lekker mamma se kos – the best carvery by far!”
Ashley’s was started in 2007 by Ashley Witten. Having been in the restaurant industry for around 17 years at that stage and having managed another popular eatery for 16 years, Ashley realised that it was time for him to make his passion for the restaurant industry a reality and open his very own place.
The goal was to encompass all the attributes and values which he deemed to be the most important components of creating a successful, well-balanced restaurant with family at the core.
At Ashley’s Family Restaurant, it’s all about you and your loved ones – grown-ups and children. With a dedicated Kiddies Corner and kiddies menu, children feel right at home in the homey atmosphere. Children get an awesome colouring-in sheet upon arrival, setting the tone for a fun, colourful experience. Not only that, but Ashley wants youngsters to feel extra loved – especially on birthdays! Get a complimentary meal, drink and toy on your special day.
Ashley’s Family Restaurant boasts an extensive menu including steaks, seafood, pizza, pasta, burgers, ribs, chicken, and delicious desserts. And, of course, a VIP kiddies menu.
Food is of the highest quality and portions are generous: great value for money indeed. Ashley’s popular weekly specials are available all year round and additional specials are on offer from time to time – be sure to ask your waitron.
A crowd favourite is the carvery which is served every Wednesday evening and Sunday afternoon. Ashley’s is fully licensed and has a wide selection of wines to choose from and also offers beer on tap.
2012 saw the birth of Ashley’s Take-Away Shop, which is situated right next to the restaurant. It’s no wonder Cape Town can’t get enough. There’s an option for everybody.
